The Project

This St. Johns home wanted the full outdoor-living package: shade on demand, bug protection, and a patio they could actually use after dark. We handled all three in one coordinated system.

We installed a motorized retractable awning for instant shade over the patio, paired it with motorized retractable screens to close the space off from insects when the family wants it, and built in integrated LED lighting on the awning so the space stays usable into the evening. Everything runs on motors, so the whole setup opens and closes at the push of a button.

What makes this project a good example is the layering. The awning controls sun and light rain. The screens control bugs and wind-driven rain. The LED lighting extends the hours the patio is comfortable. Used together, a covered patio in St. Johns stops being a daytime-only, good-weather-only space and becomes part of the house.
